Beneficiary Selection Policy
Michael’s Fan Club has been created to bring enjoyment to paediatric cancer children through the gift of sport. This is a summary of the basis on which the Charity’s Beneficiaries will be selected.
To be eligible to apply, a child must be:
- Resident in Ireland
- Aged between 4 and 16 (inclusive)
- Receiving active treatment from St. John’s Ward, Crumlin Hospital, Dublin
Beneficiaries will be selected based on the following criteria:
- Priority will be given to children that have not already availed of a sports-related experience from another charity.
- The severity of the child’s condition with palliative care children being prioritised.
- The ability of the club to deliver an experience relevant to the child at a reasonable cost. Trips from Ireland are limited to the UK.
The selection process will include:
- An application form to be completed by a parent/guardian giving contact details for the child’s medical team and information on the child’s birth date, favourite sports, clubs and sporting heroes.
- The child’s treating consultant will make the final determination as to whether a child will be able to participate in an experience and written confirmation from a parent will be required.
