Zoe – Michael’s Fan Club All-Star   

December was a special month for our club and for 11 year-old Zoe Gallagher from Glanworth in Cork. Her 67 Challenge – named in honour of her 67 year-old beloved grandad “Goga B” who she lost 12 months previously – netted almost €12,000 for Michael’s Fan Club, which was selected by Zoe as her chosen charity because her neighbour and friend Fionn O’Connell had been helped by us earlier in the year.

Zoe’s challenge comprised

• Running 67 km throughout December
• Taking part in the Glanworth Christmas Day Swim organised by the Glanworth 105th Scout Group
• Playing on the hurling wall for 67 minutes on New Year’s Eve, marking her Grandad’s first anniversary

The second leg (picture above shows Fionn’s dad Sean helping her in the river) was part of a community-wide fundraiser which itself raised almost €5,000 for our charity.

We can only marvel at this inspirational powerhouse of a girl and the wonderful community around her. She is truly an All-Star.
